The Angelina College Polk County Center is seeking part-time proctors to provide support for connected classes held at the AC Polk County Center. The position includes working with students and instructors to support two-way interactive instruction in a classroom equipped with monitors and cameras.  The proctor must be willing to be trained by college personnel as needed. The Proctor will also perform other duties as assigned and will adhere to the Policies and Procedures Manual.
 
Qualifications:

  • Training or Technical Skills: None required
 
Special Demands: list any extraordinary conditions applicable to the job (e.g., heavy lifting, exposure to temperature extremes, prolonged standing, travel, etc.)
 
Work primarily in a climate controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. Sedentary, sitting, walking, lifting ten to twenty pounds frequently (overhead, waist level) from floor, bending, stretching, frequent near vision use for reading and computer use; and occasional stressful situations.
 
Preferred Qualifications: list subjective or preferred qualifications applicable to the job but not required (e.g., advanced degrees, specific work experience or knowledge, skills/abilities, etc.)
 
  • Experience with technology and video conferencing a plus
  • Excellent English language, interpersonal, listening and verbal communication skills;
  • Have a customer-friendly attitude, and the ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students; and
  • Be self-motivated and multi-task oriented, with the ability to set priorities in a busy environment.
 
Job Duties and Responsibilities: using 10 to 15 brief bulleted statements, identify tasks/activities that comprise approximately 90 percent of what the position is expected to accomplish
 
  • Serve as support and contact for the distance instructor
  • Adhere to the institution’s interpretation of FERPA rules for the release of student information to faculty, parents, students, etc.
  • Safeguard the security of testing materials, students’ test scores, and other classroom assignments
  • Monitor distance classrooms and inform distance instructor of any disruptive classroom behavior
  • Communicate with students, instructors, center staff, and the public in a professional, pleasant, and effective manner
  • Check AC email for communications from distance instructor or other college personnel
  • Maintain a professional appearance;
  • Arrive ahead of class time to get materials ready before class begins.
  • Be punctual and dependable.
